The EMC Directive (2004/108/EC)
The EMC Directive, 2004/108/EC, sets the requirements for the control of emissions and immunity that products must meet in order to receive the CE Mark. It covers all electrical and electronic products, in particular household appliances, data-processing equipment, information technology equipment, telecommunications equipment and machinery.
Some products, such as automotive and medical devices, are required to meet the EMC requirements of product-specific directives. In these cases, the EMC requirements specified in each directive take precedence over those stated in the EMC Directive.
These standards may be applied immediately to demonstrate presumption of conformity with the EMC Directive. They must be applied on or before the presumption of conformity cessation dates.
