Vibration Testing Capabilities at Compliance Management Group

Vibration testing at Compliance Management Group can generate up to 18,000 force pounds on a single shaker. Compliance Management Group personnel have performed vibration testing and can provide an unlimited number of data channels. The staff at Compliance Management Group understands the importance of fixturing and the proper placement of accelerometers and force limiting instrumentation. CMG’s investment in state of the art vibration control equipment provides the best in response limiting and control of complicated vibration profiles. Our vibration controllers offer tracked resonance dwell, automated response limiting to any profile, mixed mode vibration (sine on random, random on random), and classical shock testing.

Vibration Testing Equipment at Compliance Management Group

CMG provides the latest in electro-dynamic shaker capabilities. Our shaker system provides vibration capabilities exceeding 18,000 force pounds. A large diameter armature and a 52" x 70" head expander allow testing of large test articles. Our slip tables contain hydrostatic and journal bearings to allow for testing articles with a high center of gravity in the horizontal directions.

CMG is ISTA Certified

We offer “loose cargo” vibration testing on our 8’ x 6’ mechanical shaker system and other ISTA related testing, including drop shock, compression and climatic pre-conditioning.

Vibration Testing Overview

  • Vibration testing is conducted using two basic types of tests, random vibration testing (multiple frequencies at once) and sine vibration testing (one frequency at a time).
  • Random Vibration Testing – A random vibration test provides all frequencies simultaneously and is considered to simulate real world movement. Random vibration tests can simulate vibration caused by different events such as operation, transportation and seismic.
  • Sine Sweep Vibration – A sine sweep vibration test sweeps across a frequency spectrum to determine and indentify any test article resonant frequencies.
  • Sine Dwell Vibration Testing – A sine dwell vibration test simulates a worst case scenario where the EUT is excited at specific resonant frequencies.
  • Sine-on-Random Vibration Testing – A sine-on-random vibration test is completed by superimposing a sine dwell over a random vibration profile.
  • Mixed Mode vibration can also provide swept sine on random and random on random vibration environments.

Vibration Testing Process

Vibration testing is conducted on an electro-dynamic shaker system. To complete the vibration testing, the EUT is fixtured to the vibration table. Fixture design is a critical step as the fixture should be as resonance free as possible. Eliminating low frequency resonance and enabling control of complicated vibration profiles is crucial to vibration fixture design.
